Hiroyuki HASHIMOTO
General Partner
- Hiroyuki joined ASTEC soon after its inception and has been the driving force to bring the company to respected venture capital firm. His main investment focus is life science industry, although he does deal with startups in other sectors. He currently serves on the board of directors at Lazoc and Bitech Global Japan.
- Before joining ASTEC, Hiroyuki was a consultant for various startup companies. Previously he worked seven years for Fujisawa Pharmaceuticals (currently Astellas) and held various positions in marketing and finance divisions.
- Hiroyuki received his BA degree from Doshisha University (Kyoto) and MBA from Keio University (Tokyo).
Takuro WAKABAYASHI
General Partner
- Takuro founded ASTEC with a group of visionary professors at the University of Tokyo in 2001. He currently serves on the board of directors at Dept Corporation, Perseus Proteomics, and Medical Fragrance. He is also a statutory auditor (equivalent to director of the board) at Technostar.
- Previously he worked for Japanese media congromerate, Recruit Co., Ltd., for 11years where he experienced various functions, including real estate development, legal service and startup investment. He was instrumental when the company started technology transfer business, which is currently the largest team of the kind in Japan.
- Takuro is a frequent speaker at various events and served several committees organized by the Government.
- Takuro holds LLB from the University of Tokyo (Tokyo) and MBA at INSEAD (France).
Hiroaki NAKAI
General Partner
- Hiroaki joined ASTEC in 2005, and is helping portfolio companies to develop and monitor their businesses.
- Prior to joining ASTEC, he worked for the Carlyle Group, where he executed and monitored MBO deals at the buyout team. He was instrumental in acquisition and monitoring of Colin Medical Technology deal, and he served the company as a statutory auditor (equivalent to director of the board).
- Previously, Hiroaki worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company based in Tokyo. While at McKinsey, he primarily worked with high-tech and health care firms in business restructuring, joint venture organization, and new business development.
- Hiroaki received BS and MS in Electronic Engineering from the Univesity of Tokyo.
